The story of Nina and Žiga

Nina and Žiga are, without a doubt, one of the nicest couples I’ve worked with. Shortly after they first contacted me, we met over coffee and immediately hit off. They were so warm and authentic that I felt like I had known them for years. Their personality comes across in the video, too, and it was a pleasure to capture such an important part of their love story on film.

The couple said “I do” on a warm summer day, surrounded by close family and friends. Their relaxed wedding celebration took place at Kodarinov mlin (Kodarin’s mill), an intimate wedding venue set in the Istrian valley of the Dragonja River.

Kodarinov mlin wedding

Kodarinov mlin is one of my favorite wedding venues in Slovenia, and I’m always happy to return there. Tucked away by olive groves and lavender fields with views over the picturesque Istrian hills, it reminds me of Tuscany. It’s hard to find a more photogenic venue; this place always looks stunning on film.

This charming stone mill was originally built in 1800. Its current owners, Vasja and Ingrid Kodarin, saved the mill from collapse and gave it a new life. Together with the help of some friends, they turned it into an excursion farm that has quickly become one of the most desirable Slovenian wedding venues.

Relaxed outdoor wedding under the trees

Nina and Žiga celebrated their wedding ceremony outdoors under the shade of lush trees and a spacious white canopy. They chose simple and organic wedding decor that perfectly matched the relaxed vibe of the event. The bride wore an elegant white gown with lace detail, complemented by natural makeup done by Maja Drab, while the groom went for a minimal beige suit spiced up with leather suspenders and a wooden bow tie.

The wedding ceremony was then followed by dinner and a fun reception party. What I will remember the most from Nina and Žiga’s reception are definitely the touching wedding toasts from their family members and friends. It was such an emotional moment, and lots of tears were shed (the happy ones, of course).

Oh, and don’t let me forget the couple’s first dance – they showed off some seriously impressive dance moves! The evening concluded with a delicious wedding cake made by Manja Pergar from Njama, and guests dancing and having a good time long into the night (props to Selecto for the music). The wedding was photographed by Klemen Razinger.

Nina and Žiga, it was a pleasure to work with you, and I wish you the best of luck in your life together as husband and wife!

What they said

“We met Nik purely by accident, and his positive energy convinced us to work together – thank god! The wedding video he made for us is truly something special, and we will never forget the moment we watched it for the first time. We enjoy sharing it with our loved ones, and so far, we haven’t gotten a response other than ‘Wow!’”
